About Me: Natalie Marie
My name is Natalie, and I am a Chicago native who enjoys helping families and children meet their speech and language goals.
I graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with my Bachelors in Speech and Hearing Sciences with a concentration in the neuroscience of communication and my Masters in Speech and Hearing Sciences. My passion is providing client and family-centered care to children working on speech sounds, language disorders, voice, and stuttering.
Families often express discontent and frustration watching their children struggle to speak with confidence or tell their parents what they want or need. Collaboration across family members and other disciplines, like teachers and occupational therapists, is key when painting a full picture.
One of my greatest skills is highlighting scenarios in everyday life that correlate to what is being shown on standardized testing. For example, if a student is scoring low on Receptive Language Scores, this could be why it is hard for them to follow your directions. If a student doesn’t know how to combine syllables to make a new word, this could be why they are demonstrating trouble with reading.
I appreciate fundamentals of It Takes Two To Talk to inspire parents to become leaders in their child’s language development. Teach Me To Talk is another course that helps highlight the foundational skills of language when working with language delays.
In my free time, I love to write poetry, take long walks around different neighborhoods, and spend time with my family. I have dealt with challenges in the past, and shifting my perspective overtime has brought me so many blessings that I hope to share with others!
