ENJOY THE JOURNEY: YOU ARE WHERE YOU NEED TO BE
I’m not sure who needs to hear this. Enjoy the journey. You are exactly where you need to be at this point.
You are where you need to be at this point in time.
Are you a goal-oriented person? Do you have a list of what you would like to do in life? Do you have an idea of where you’d like to be in a year? Where you’d like to be in five years? If you’ve answered yes to any of these, you are most likely like me.
At 26, I feel like I have so much to look forward to in life. I want to work on my business. I want to excel in my current role as a speech-language pathologist. I want to save up to buy a home and have money for when I have children. There are so many plans I have.
What about my plans for the here and now?
When I sit and think about how I feel at this moment, I feel content. I can afford to buy myself a coffee and sit at a coffee shop on the weekends to write.
I am exactly where I need to be at this point in time.
I have all the knowledge for the goals I previously set for myself. For example, I went through graduate school so I could be a speech-language pathologist. I went through therapy so I could be my most confident self and successfully be a good partner in a relationship. There was so much preparation that I did not appreciate that got me to this point.
Do you know all you need to know for your future self?
If you were to fast forward and be where you want to be right now, would you be prepared? Chances are, you won’t be. You may be anxiety-ridden and overwhelmed if you were thrown into the life you dream of. You may not be best prepared to handle all the new obligations that come with your new life. The journey to get there helps us learn. We learn best when we experience life. These steps are fundamental to our success.
Some examples:
Think of the idea that someone just won millions of dollars. The vast majority of people end up burning through that money, only to end up where they started. That is because they never knew how to handle thousands of dollars. They never knew how to grow money or keep it for long periods. Those steps it takes to earn money and maintain it were essential to that progress. Wouldn’t you like to win all that money and then continue growing it instead of burning through it?
I think about what would happen if I owned a business right now. I wouldn’t know how to delegate the tasks needed or how to even hire people to take on those tasks. I wouldn’t know
Comparing to your past self
Think about where you were five years ago. Did you know all you needed to know to be where you are now? If your answer is yes, then I encourage you to push and find goals to further your life. If your answer is no, then my point is proven (and you are on the right track)!
Where to go from here?
Enjoy the process of learning and growing to be where you want to be. It is essential to your success. Be proud of where you are right now as it is a fundamental building block of the future. Keep on going and don’t stop.
Before you know it, you’ll look back and think of you in the past trying to get to where you are now. You’ll wish you enjoyed it more and basked in that period. Life is so short.
I am sending you love and light! Enjoy the journey!
